A Dandy Lion

Other than in my "hippy" years when I served steamed dandelion leaves to Hugh for dinner, I have had little patience for this ubiquitous weed.  But, perhaps, my mind is changed.  Just look at the lovely mane on this saucy and dandy little lion.

The name, dandelion, is from the French dent-de-lion, tooth of the lion.  The composite flower head is comprised of many single flowers, each with a very curly stamen.  From this up-close and personal view point, my inclination would be to change the name to mane-de-lion, "mandelion"
(Don't forget to click on the photo to enlarge it so that you can see the "mane".)
